Mr Oreke (1986) - HOLIDAYS XL

Certificate of Authenticity

Born in 1986, Mr. Oreke is a self-taught French artist who describes his work as "Street Pop Art". In the early 2000s, he encountered pictorial arts through the practice of graffiti. Armed with his spray paint cans, he began by covering the walls with his drawings in shimmering colors before continuing his gesture on the canvas support. His style inherits from the pop art movement and the aesthetics of comics. Abstraction predominates in the style of his early years. Mr. Oreke's singularity can be seen in his backgrounds, which he mainly uses with an aerosol, in the manner of graffiti. The artist combines ink with acrylic, and sometimes heterogeneous elements such as banknotes. The narration, tinged with humor, is endowed with fantasy and liberating energy. A formal freedom is added through a mixture of collages, drips, typographic elements... and echoes the comic strip.
