Early Medieval, Migration period, Ostrogothic-Germanic zoomorphic silver fibula in "Kerbschnitt" (chip carving). Semi-circular head-plate with incised decoration, an arching bow and a lozenge-shaped foot, ending in a face-mask. Decorated head-plate with five projecting knobs. Dark reddish glass or stone inlays in the radiate head and foot.
The five knobs on the head plate are also described as the Five Beams (symbol of the Sun).
± 64,5 x 31,8 mm
Condition: good and solid condition complete with catchplate. The pin is missing. Signs of wear consistent with age and use. See images.
Certificate of Authenticity: available upon request (pdf-format).
