A very fine antique 4/4 italian master violin, labeled LORENZO VENTAPANE FABBRICANTE DI STRUMENTI DA CORDE Abita Calata Borgo di Loreto N°. 23. The instrument is in ready to play condition with tears, wears, no visible cracks. Good rosewood set up. The violin has an excellent straight high grained spruce of the top and one piece back of softly flamed maple with matched sides. The scroll of strongly flamed maple. Rich brown color varnish over golden ground shows an amazing wooden choice. The whole length of the violin is 583 mm and the back 355 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 164 mm; middle bouts: 110 mm; lower bouts: 202 mm. Full size. The sound is very sweet, rich, powerful, suitable for soloist.
