Here is a stunning large specimen of erythrite from the best locality worldwide for the species: Bou Azzer in the Anti-Atlas mountains, Morocco!
It displays a large open geode featuring numerous areas with translucent pink-purple erythrite sprays consisting of crystals up to 2 cm long.
The sought after cobalt arseniate develops here over a bed of small clear quartz, which is typical from the old and first 'main' discoveries in Bou Azzer.
Very rare feature here, you can see at the bottom of the specimen massive skutterudite with a few well formed crystals, that represents actually the primary cobalt ore from the alteration of which erythrite occurs!
Specimens from Bou Azzer combining both erythrite and skutterudite crystals are extremely scarce, yet highly didactic.
