The photo does not have a title or mention the place, the scene takes place 
probably somewhere in 80's Mississippi.
It is part of the series of photographs taken by Baldwin Lee as he walks the 
South of the United States from 1983 to 1989, depicting the daily life of the 
of the African-American population.


Baldwin Lee (born 1951) is a Chinese-American photographer and educator known for his photographs of African-American communities in the southern United States.

He was born in Brooklyn, and graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1972) where he studied photography with Minor White, and then an MFA from Yale University (1975) where he studied with Walker Evans.

In 1982, he became an art professor at the University of Tennessee, where he founded the university's photography program. He then decided to make a journey around the Deep South, covering 2,000 miles in ten days. During this trip, he devoted himself to photographing the people, landscapes and cities of the South. He began a longer tour from 1983 to 1989, producing about 10,000 photographs.

The majority of his work focuses on the lives of low-income African Americans on the outskirts of major cities.
