Inscription content: Lettered in lower margin with title, production details and thirteen lines of French: "Peint par Théodore Romboust" and "Dessiné par Borel" "Gravé par Godefroy" and "De la Galerie du Palais Royal / Ecole Flamande" and "IIe tableau de Théodore Rombouts / Peint sur Toile, ayant de hauteur 3 Pieds sur 4 Pieds 6 Pouces de large" and "Amilcar pere d'Annibal, ... / ... bien conserve".
From 'Galerie du Palais Royal', a set published between 1786 and 1808;
These prints were a record of one of the greatest collections of old master paintings owned by the Duke of Orléans ( who became Philippe d’Égalité during the revolution (before he lost his head). The book became a catalogue for the sale and dispersal of this collection housed in the Palais Royal in Paris.
