This book is a photography magazine published around the 1970s, and the publisher is Shinya Yoshimura of Shashin Hyoronsha, one of the most important figures in the history of Japanese photography in the 1960s and 1970s. He is also the author of “A Study of Contemporary Photographic Masterpieces,” a collection of critiques of famous photographic works. In addition to criticism, he has also published photography books, most notably “Shashin yo sayonara” by Daido Moriyama, “Embrace” by Eikoh Hosoe, “Sacred World” by Kikuji Kawada, “I am a King” by Shomei Higashimatsu, “meet again” by Koichi Inakoshi, and “Left Alone” by Yukio Tanabe. Each issue of the book is comprised of features on several photographers, columns, roundtable discussions, and other text, and in addition to Yoshimura, Koshio Kuwabara and others serve as co-editors, so the illustrations, text, and even the binding and design of the book are uncompromisingly excellent. This issue includes “Lovers” by Yoshihiro Tachiki, “Onna” by Akira Sato, “No. 541” by Shomei Tomatsu, “Shinju-ku Monogatari” by Makoto Yanagisawa, “Sequence” by Duen Michaels, and other works, as well as a column by Koji Taki and others.
