PENANG:
Pulu Penang - Prince of Wales Island
An island off the west coast of Malasya. Cededto the British in 1791 by the sultan of Kedah and was the first British settlement in Malasya.
Also known as Pulu Penang and Prince of Wales Island - wich title it retained until 1867.
The currency system depended on the Spanish dollar divided into 100 pice ( or cents) until 1826 when 48 pice were deemed the equivalent of one Bengal rupee until 1830.
