A fine Luristan bronze dagger, featuring a triangular blade with a prominent mid-rib. The hilt is square-sectioned with a wedge-shaped pommel and a horizontal guard with rounded terminals and two pointed projections extending upwards towards to middle of the blade. The surface of the dagger has a green patina alongside some earthly encrustations, while the blade displays notches and chips to the edges as consistent with the object's age.

Luristan bronze comes from the province of Lorestan, renowned in antiquity for its sophisticated metal working techniques. In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites, settled in the area. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of the Luristan bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Excavated items often included weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Everyday objects are also found including pins and bracelets. Archaeological evidence suggests that the Luristan bronze objects often serve ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts.

Measurements: L 26.6cm x W 6.2cm

Provenance: Ex London Collection, formed between 1990-present.

To tani zegarek, podróbka a nie oryginał, wartość tego zegarka to max 30 euro! Sprzedawca bardzo szybko wysłał, ale nawet pudełko to zwykła chińszczyzna. Nie można handlować tak słabym towarem.
