Gao-Guenie. Observed meteorite fall in Burkina Faso - 41.6 g
On March 5, 1960 at 17 local time near the village of Gao, Burkina Faso, three detonations were heard in the sky and many stones started falling over a 70km² area. Locals reported damaged buildings and the explosion was heard up to 100km away. Many pieces were found and classified as an H5 chondrite meteorite.
Chondrites are called so because they have chondrules, tiny spheres that are considered the first solid material of the Solar System. They also have tiny particles of iron.
Certificate of authenticity included. IMCA 5591.
