Superb Egyptian Black Top in terracotta from the Predynastic Period ( 4400 - 2900 B.C ).
These ceramic vessels owe their name to the black colour of their upper and inner parts inside. This is how it was defined by Flinders Petrie, the true father of the study of ancient ceramics and their careful of ancient ceramics and their careful classification.
This type of vase belongs to the historical period known as Nagada I or Amratian.
