De Maserati 300S uit 1956 model wint zowel de 1.000 km van Buenos Aires met Stirling Moss en Carlos Menditeguy als de 1.000-kilometerrace op de Nürburgring, met Moss, Behra, Taruffi en Schell. Dat jaar bereikt Maserati dankzij de 300S de tweede plaats in het kampioenschap, achter Ferrari.
