J-L. Lugardon prend des cours de dessin à la Société des Arts de Genève, avant d'être l'élève d'Antoine-Jean Gros à Paris, de 1820 à 1822, et d'Ingres à Florence entre 1823 et 1825. Probablement Salon de Genève, 1837, n° 105 : "Paysans napolitains en prière" Le tableau visible sur le mur à l'arrière-plan semble être la célèbre Madonna della sedia, tondo de Raphaël conservé à Florence au palais Pitti. Œuvre rare et exceptionnelle par le sens de détail et de sa finesse d’exécution. Dimensions toile : 55×45 cm. Très bel encadrement d'origine est inclus dans la vente. Dimensions: 77x67cm. Le tableau est en bel état, quelques craquelures sont à signaler. L'encadrement peut présenter quelques retouches à la dorure, son état n'est pas garanti. The painting visible on the wall in the background appears to be the famous Madonna della sedia, tondo by Raphael kept in Florence at the Pitti Palace.

J-L. Lugardon took drawing lessons at the Société des Arts de Genève, before becoming a pupil of Antoine-Jean Gros in Paris, from 1820 to 1822, and of Ingres in Florence between 1823 and 1825.
