He was an artist of the "Tsuruzawa School"鶴澤派, which followed the "Kanō School"狩野派 tradition, and flourished in the middle of the Edo period. Known as a disciple of "Tangei Tsuruzawa"鶴澤探鯨(1687~1769), he ascended to the rank of "Hōkkyō"法橋, a significant status among painters, and also served as an "Imperial court painter"禁裏御用絵師. "Genchin Yoshida"吉田元陳(1728~1795) was skilled in painting famous scenic spots, and it is presumed that there were considerable requests for his depictions of "Mount Fuji"富士山 among other subjects during his time. This works include delicate and detailed portrayals of the daily lives of common people engaged in fishing, set against the backdrop of the ocean beneath Mount Fuji. These pieces demonstrate his exceptional skill in the use of color and intricate detailing.
