Carlo Mirabasso - La Riflessione, La Gioia

My work is an enigmatic vision of reality, a metaphysical interpretation of images, places or situations seen previously. The influences in my paintings are many and derive mainly from images of everyday life or memories of the past. There are influences from the Italian Renaissance to modern and contemporary art (from Raffaello Sanzio to the metaphysical paintings of Giorgio de Chirico) that have inspired my creations at various levels. In addition to curiosity and reflection, in my paintings I try to convey above all serenity, a state of mind that is increasingly difficult to achieve in the chaotic rhythms of contemporary life. The subject of what I create is important, but my work is not limited to the content alone. I try to stimulate the viewer to create their own personal meaning, or simply to enjoy my work, without relying on basic information. Certainly a key to reading my paintings is the title, which related to the work can open infinite possibilities for reflection. I believe that a work of art can be defined as such only when it forces us to think and give our own personal interpretation of what we are observing. -- BIO : Carlo Mirabasso was born in Tivoli in 1959. In 1979 he graduated from the Ripetta Art School in Rome. In the 1980s and 1990s, in addition to painting, he worked in the field of advertising graphics and illustration, collaborating with numerous advertising agencies and publishing houses. At the beginning of the 1990s he began to paint his first metaphysical compositions, perfecting a personal painting technique on wood that would become fundamental for his research, tracing a path that would lead him to establish himself as a professional artist. Since 1996 he has abandoned advertising graphics and devoted himself exclusively to painting. He has participated in numerous exhibitions, and exhibits his works in Rome, Milan, Florence, Bari, Teramo, Potenza, Padua, Auckland (New Zealand), Marbella (Spain), Taipei (Taiwan). He lives and works in Bastia Umbra, Perugia.
