They are never worshiped alone, but are in the form of a Yakushi Triad, which serves as attendants to Yakushi Nyorai. Nikko Bosatsu is also called "Nikko Hensho" and gives light to all living beings like the sun, while Gakko Bosatsu is also called "Gekko Hensho" and represents a state of purity where the flames of earthly desires have been extinguished like the moon. They do not have a fixed form, but they may hold a sun or moon wheel, or a sun or moon wheel placed on a lotus stem.
