Celtic bronze circular shield shaped mount with a large Triskellum on the central boss. Complete with loop on the reverse. The mount is strung with modern materials on a modern leather jewellery cord with clasp. If preferred, the modern fixture can easily be removed.
Diameter: ± 24,5 mm
Condition: very good and solid condition. Signs of wear consistent with age and use. See images.
Certificate of Authenticity: available upon request (pdf-format) for sales over € 100.
The Triskellum (Triskele, Triskelion or Triple Spiral) is a complex ancient Celtic symbol and a popular design on Celtic coins. Its earliest creation dates back to the Neolithic era.
The three interlocked spirals evoke the Celtic interpretation of the three realms of material existence: earth, water and sky. The symbol is also thought to represent life-death-rebirth, past-present-future or the unbroken movement of time.
