Josef Popczyk was only after his death in 1971 noted as a significant artist of the Ecole de Paris.

In 1890 he was born in Brzeiny in Poland, north of Krakow, to a Polish mother and a Russian father.

Popczyk studied architecture in Lwow ( Lemberg ). 

He worked in Poland and abroad as an architect.

Painting was his passion. The 1910's and the 1920's he spent in Paris, after which he was in England, then active in Venice.

Far too little is known about this particular artist whose work is increasingly appreciated however.
