Takehiko Tsuji is a Japanese ceramic artist, but he is also a contemporary artist.
This beautiful vase was inspired by European buildings while utilizing the white and blue of Arita-yaki porcelain.
About the artist.
Born in Arita in 1936. After graduating from Saga Technical High School, he studied under Shozo Shimada, Keiji Hayashi, and others at the Yokohama Molding Institute in 1957. In 1960, he returned to his hometown to study ceramics under his father Itto Tsuji and Manji Inoue. The following year, he was selected for the Nitten Exhibition for the first time, and since then has been selected 28 times (special prize in 1981 and 1993).
About Arita-yaki
Arita-yaki is the most representative porcelain of Japan, produced in the city of Arita and the surrounding area.
It is characterised by its translucent white porcelain surface and the beautiful colours produced with overglaze paints. It is extremely durable and is used in a wide range of products, from works of art to everyday items.
Known as 'white gold' for its superior quality and beauty, it was recognised as a traditional craft by the Japanese government in 1977.
