No. 91531275
I am proud and grateful to be able to offer you this fine wine, another special one from my late father's collection.
He kept it, along with his other treasures, in a special wine cellar, cool, dark, with a controlled climate.
It will find its way to you carefully packaged with DHL.
www.falstaff.com:
"The red wine Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial, vintage 2000 from the Marqués de Murrieta winery was rated 93 Falstaff points by Peter Moser in 2019. It is a wine made from the Tempranillo and Carignan grape varieties from the Rioja region in Spain.
The wines of this remarkable tasting were tasted on the occasion of the annual tasting in November 2019 of the “Linzer Runde” at the Josef in Linz. Patron Günter Hager provided the majority of the wines from his private collection, and some wines were purchased from the international wine trade.
The Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial from Marqués de Murietta in Rioja in Spain goes back to the 1877 vintage and was initially called “Château Ygay” based on the Bordeaux model. It always represented a selection of the best barrels from outstanding vintages. Since 1917, it has been called Castillo Ygay. The last century must be divided into two periods. The “younger” vintages under the new owner family and the “historic” vintages produced by descendants of the Marques de Murrieta family. In contrast to the historical vintages, which matured in barrels for an extremely long time, the “early releases” such as 1985, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1994, 1995 were stored in barrels for an average of between 4 and 5 years..."
Marqués de Murrieta Estates and Wines is led since 1983 by the Cebrián-Sagarriga family. They describe the winery on their website:
"A story written day by day by a family.
The origin of the Marqués de Murrieta winery is also the origin of Rioja. Don Luciano Murrieta made the first Rioja wine in 1852 using techniques learned in Bordeaux, with the intention of preserving it over time.
Don Luciano's vision was clear from the start: to create a fine Rioja wine with great aging potential and to export it outside of Spain. He shipped his first vintage, the legendary 1852, to countries like Mexico and Cuba, making it the first fine Rioja wine to be exported.
In the Castillo, noble materials merge in perfect combination with the latest technologies, making one of the oldest industrial buildings in Europe a benchmark for modernity and balance.
Due to its historical importance in the world of wine, its heritage and the architecture of the building itself, the Castillo de Ygay, and thus the headquarters of Marqués de Murrieta, was declared a museum in 2019."
