Ancient Roman, Empire Bone Ancient Roman Chess Knight piece

Ancient Roman Chess Knight Piece 7.4g. and 41mm x 11mm Purchased from C. Auctions, Austria in January 2024. From a Private European Collection An outstanding and historically very important piece. A highly attractive example. Extremely rare, possibly unique. Although there is no evidence that Julius Caesar, Augustus, Caligula, Nero, or Hadrian understood chess, the later Roman emperors who ruled Byzantium, which did not finally fall to the Turkish forces of Islam until 1453, certainly played chess. I prove that the lot was obtained legally , provenance statement seen by Catawiki Important information. I guarantee that I am entitled to ship this lot. I will take care that any necessary permits will be arranged. I will inform the buyer about this if this takes more than a few days.
