View translationAlessi - Virgil Abloh - Cutlery set - "Conversational Objects" - 18/10 stainless steel
No. 91418907
Introducing "Conversational Objects" by Virgil Abloh for Alessi, a captivating 32-piece cutlery set that combines functionality, tradition, and an innovative design approach. With a deep-rooted passion for both heritage and gastronomy, Abloh conceived these utensils as versatile "tool sets for the dining table," aiming to redefine the way we engage with cutlery.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the ''Conversational Objects'' cutlery set comprises eight tablespoons, eight table forks, eight table knives, and eight coffee spoons. Each piece is meticulously fashioned from high-quality 18/10 stainless steel, ensuring durability and longevity in everyday use.
Embracing his fascination with industrial aesthetics, Abloh draws inspiration from garage culture to infuse the design with a raw and edgy appeal. The sandblasted texture adds a unique touch, lending the cutlery set a distinct matte finish that beautifully contrasts with traditional polished flatware. This intentional departure from convention makes “Conversational Objects” a true testament to Abloh's creative vision.
As the name suggests, these utensils transcend their practical purpose and become catalysts for conversation. They invite a dialogue between form and function, tradition and innovation, and the past and the present. Each piece showcases Abloh's signature touch, where the boundaries between art, design, and everyday objects are effortlessly blurred.
''Conversational Objects'' seamlessly blend into various dining settings, from elegant dinner parties to casual gatherings, offering an engaging visual narrative to the table. Whether used for a formal meal or as a centerpiece for artistic display, this cutlery set represents a harmonious balance between modernity and time-honored craftsmanship.
With ''Conversational Objects'', Virgil Abloh and Alessi have created a captivating cutlery collection that elevates the dining experience. Beyond their practical utility, these utensils transcend their function and become dynamic pieces of art that spark meaningful conversations and forge unforgettable memories around the table.
This ‘'Conversational Objects'' cutlery set is in unused and new condition. Delivered with original packaging. The cutlery is dishwasher safe.
The designer:
Virgil Abloh (1980 - 2021), a multi-talented creative force, was born in Rockford, Illinois. His diverse skill set encompassed a vast array of disciplines, including art, architecture, engineering, creative direction, industrial design, fashion design, music, DJing, and philanthropy. Abloh embarked on his educational journey by earning a degree in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, followed by a Master's degree in architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago. It was during his time at IIT, where he studied under the influential design curriculum developed by Mies van der Rohe, that Abloh began to shape the foundations of his artistic practice. In the summer of 2019, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago hosted a major retrospective of Abloh's work, which became one of the most attended exhibitions in the museum's history. Notably, he served as the Chief Creative Director and founder of Off-White and held the prestigious position of Men's Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton.
About Alessi:
Alessi, a renowned Italian design brand founded in 1921 Giovanni Alessi, has become a symbol of cutting-edge design and innovative craftsmanship, especially in Postmodernism and Contemporary design as well as some Bauhaus objects. Over the decades, it has collaborated with iconic designers such as Alessandro Mendini, Aldo Rossi, Achille Castiglioni, Ettore Sottsass (a founder of the Memphis group), Michael Graves, Marcel Wanders, Richard Sapper, Zaha Hadid, the Bouroullec brothers, Tom Kovac, Toyo Ito, Jean Nouvel, Ron Arad, and Gio Ponti. These collaborations have cemented Alessi's reputation for creating timeless, functional pieces that double as works of art. This makes Alessi a brand with high impact and rich marriage with fundamental design DNA.
