A very fine Byzantine bronze half follis during the time of Maurice Tiberius. The coin’s obverse depicts the facing bust of the emperor, crowned and cuirassed, holding globus cruciger in his right hand. The legend reads D N TIb mAVRC P P AVC. The reverse displays a large K with a cross above, flanked by ANNO on the left and the year of reign III on the right. Mintmark TES in exergue.

Provenance: Ex Cambridgeshire private collection, acquired 1970s.
