Byzantine Gold Cross Pendant
Circa 6th- 8th century AD
This beautiful hollow-formed gold cross pendant features each arm ending in a flat circular cap encircled by intricate filigree. The top of the pendant includes a suspension loop further enhanced with fine granules.
The cross in Christianity is one of the most potent and universally recognised symbols of the faith. It represents the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, which is central to Christian beliefs about redemption and salvation.
