Two maps of the south of England from the lat Nineteenth century.
1) Royaume d'Angleterre, Partie Méridionale.
Delightfully detailed hand coloured double-page map of the southern part of England.
From Bonne's 'Atlas encyclopédique ... géographie physique'.
In a very good condition, with bright hand colouring, and no markings or foxing.
Shows Southern England, English Channel, Channel Islands, Northern France, part of Southern Ireland, and the Isles of Scilly.
Map: 34.5 x 23.5 cm. Whole sheet: 42 x 29.5 cm
2) CARY, John - KENT
London: J. Cary, 1793. An engraved map of Kent, hand coloured in outline. The detail from Cary's atlas for Kent is visible and legible to the verso. Framed in a simple pale green mounting board. Protected by acid free plastic. John Cary worked from London as a mapmaker, engraver and publisher, towards the last quarter of the 18th century up to around 1830. His "New and Correct English Atlas", first published around 1776, was a benchmark in British topography. He used Copper plates for all his work, despite steel engraving becoming more common at this stage.
Condition: Very nice clean condition. There is fractional foxing to the edge of the written page (verso) the map itself is clean and tidy with the merest hint of darkening. A couple of tiny marks not affecting detail.

We are professional booksellers based in France, and have been members of ILAB for many years. We currently hold full membership of SLAM, as well as other organisations. We also sell at fairs and markets across Europe.
We are often found at brocantes and marches, searching for books and prints. We are also always interested in acquiring new stock from individuals, so if you have books or prints to sell, do get in touch.
We are proud to purchase biodegradable packaging and materials. Where possible, all of our book wrap and tape are compostable or re-cyclable. If you do receive any plastic bubble wrap from us - it is because we are re-using items we have received.
