This is a rare group of 4 original work photograph from the important Irish photographer Ann Doherty. These high quality resin-coated silver gelatin prints each measures 21cm x 25.5cm and on the back features Ann Doherty's studio stamp sticker together with a labels describing the works including:

"Preluky Detention Centre, Visiting Time". Perhaps this refers to the city of Pryluky in Ukraine.
"Latchmere is not like prison you are treated like a human being. Tim says." Perhaps this refers to Latchmere prison.
"100 men sleep in a largedormatory, orderly but filled with a dreary stench."
"A group of Christian men work with wood whilst the rest do nothing."

The photojournalist Ann Doherty, of Donegal, was an amazing photojournalist having worked for the Sunday Times worked for the Sunday Times from 1997-2004 and took her camera and amazing eye to some of the most remote and troubled regions in the world including Sierra Leone, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Russia. Her work has featured in many major publications and exhibitions and in 2018 a significant archive of her work was aqcuired by Donegal County Council. Her powerful black and white photographs typically feature ordinary people often living in extraordinary situations with her powerful lens bringing their lives sharply into focus against backgrounds of conflict, extreme poverty, social deprivation, hardship, trauma and
remoteness. Ann Doherty won an Amnesty International award for her series on
Ukrainian prisoners in 1998, received prestigious commissions from Medecins Sans Frontiers, The Sunday Times while her work has also appeared in exhibitions at the Association of Photographers Gallery, County Museum and was long associated with the International Centre of Photography.

The prints are in excellent condition and each measures 25.3cm x 20cm.
