You are bidding on a very fine 4/4 violin, labeled Joannes Franciscus Pressenda q Raphael fecit Taurini anno Domini 1836.
The instrument remains in good ready to play condition with some professionally repaired cracks on top and sides, grafted scroll, new ebony set up, new bridge and new strings. The whole length of the violin is 593 mm and the back 359 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 160 mm; middle bouts: 110 mm; lower bouts: 205 mm.
Materials: very nice two pieces softly flamed maple back and straight high grained spruce top. Golden-brown-reddish varnish.
The sound is very deep, rich, powerful, suitable for soloist.
