Echizen Jū Kinai was a renowned sword guard maker in the Edo period. The Kinai tsuba tradition dates back to the late Muromachi period, with the Ishikawa branch producing six generations, followed by the Takahashi line for seven generations until the Meiji era. Initially residing in Ōmi Province, the Kinai lineage later moved from Ichijōdani in Echizen Province to Fukui. The tsuba shows signs of age, including wear, minor scratches, and rust. Please note that while the lid and box fit together securely, they were not originally made as a matching set.
