Literary painter of the late Edo period. Born in Hikone, the son of a master of tableware in Hikone Castle Town. He studied nanga under Ichikawa Kunkei, then Matsumura Gekkei (Goshun), who gave him the name Gessho. He excelled at flower-and-bird painting and landscape painting.

Hello. Thank you for your reviews. I'm sorry for not delivering your scroll in perfect condition. As we described in the listing photos and the description, there was a fold, and damage in the back of the mounting. We always check everything carefully before packing, there was no torn then. In transit, I guess the fold induced torn due to age. Please be assured that we are willing to accept a return at our cost. Could you send it back to us?
