The two have been dog and cat from the start. As brothers can be.
But there the problem dates back to 1979, when Keith got out of heroin.

Baptized Voodoo Lounge, the Rolling Stones' first album without Bill Wyman can be seen as the consolidation of the work done on Steel Wheels in 1989, or rather the rediscovered understanding between Mick Jagger and Keith Richards (even if tensions may still appear). It wants to be a return to basics with raw blues rock to return to the spirit of a group that really plays.
