Dinky Toys is a label of the company Meccano Ltd., which has been producing toys in England since the 1950s.
Dinky Toys is best known for its old series of die-cast toy cars made of zinc die-casting, which were sold until the 1970s. Some of these cars, in mint condition, fetch prices of over 8,000 euros.
Dinky Toys first appeared in early 1934 when Meccano Ltd of Liverpool introduced their new range of miniature models under the brand name "Meccano Dinky Toys". The first advertisement for this range was published in Meccano Magazine in April 1934. The models were typically 1:43 scale.
