It features sprays of transparent red rhodochrosite scalenohedrons, highly lustrous, overgrowing acicular sprays of jet black manganite. You can see from the close-ups that everywhere over the specimen, single doubly terminated crystals occur on manganite rods, which could make beautiful macro photographies. The matrix is solid manganese oxides-rich rock, that was actually used as manganese ore in Moanda in the 1980's when this specimen was found. A nice, representative combination of rhodochrosite and manganite from a lesser known African locality!
