This statue is an ancestral shepherd, sitting on his legs with a crook. It has a height of about 14 cm.
It has received particular attention to detail by a Malian craftsman.
I bought it during my long past journeys to Mali. It has always been stored inside a glass showcase.

***MATERIAL: African bronze. Lost-wax casting process, dark brownish patina.
***PROVENANCE: Private collection, originally from the Djenné region, in Mali (collected in situ).
