Seller's Story
Francesco Ercolano, born in Sorrento on June 12, 1960, began his apprenticeship in a Sorrento artisan workshop at the age of fourteen, acquiring the techniques and secrets, and in 1987 he started his own business.
From an innate artistic passion for this activity and cultural exchanges with Prof. Enrico D’Errico (teacher of applied art at the Sorrento School of Art), a collaboration was born that led him to abandon the production of inlays dedicated to the usual Sorrento artisan world, dedicating himself to the production of personal artistic inlays.
He creates inlaid art objects in limited production or even more in unique pieces. From the artistic collaboration are born small objects extremely studied and detailed, inlaid panels of high pictorial value, as well as furniture and furnishing accessories of classical setting or of modern taste and elegance.
Furthermore, his passion for the ancient and the history of the art of marquetry has increasingly led him to combine his personal production with that of a skilled and well-prepared restorer of inlaid wooden works, boasting collaboration in the sector for museums and private collectors to date.
In 2016, Ercolano opened its own store “Artintarsiarte” where, alongside the creation of its own handcrafted inlaid items, it also creates antique, vintage or simply used objects, to which it gives a new identity and functionality.
In his showroom, in addition to objects and furnishings of his own production, there are curiosities and unique objects of artistic interest, whether they are antique or simply retro, chosen with care, experience and taste.
