This book is a collection of works from the “Nude” series published by Haga Shoten around 1980. A total of 10 issues were published, with the text and theme of each issue changing, under the supervision of Ippei Ito, a critic known for his numerous writings on nudity, and Eikoh Hosoe, a leading postwar photographer in Japan, with designer Mitsuo Katsui in charge of composition. The theme of the first issue was “Dancing Bodies,” all in black and white, with text by Butoh dancer Tatsumi Hijikata. Andre De Diens was born in Romania, studied photography in Paris, and moved to New York with his work for Esquire magazine, where he established a studio and worked in the commercial world. He is a photographer whose work is synonymous with the female nude. Another is Peter Basch, who was born in Berlin, moved to New York with his family due to Hitler's madness, studied at schools in 15 countries, and then established his own studio in New York. He is also famous for his portraits of Catherine Deneuve and Grace Kelly. These two photographers' nude works are included in this collection.
