Order Of Merit Of The Civil Guard, Cross Of Merit With White Distinction (Orden al Mérito de la Guardia Civil, Cruz al Mérito con Distinción Blanca). Four-piece construction, in silver with white and green enamels, obverse centrepiece illustrating crossed fasces and sword with the inscription "AL MERITO" above, within an open-ended wreath of laurel leaves, mounted to a green cross base, reverse centrepiece with the conjoined letters "GC" (Guardia Civil), measuring 43.8 mm (w) x 51.8 mm (h) inclusive of its integral suspension, original ribbon, on a traditional Spanish-style horizontal hanger with pinback, intact enamels, extremely fine.

Footnote: The Order of Merit of the Civil Guard was instituted on February 12, 1976, to be awarded for service bringing prestige to the Guard and of merit to the State. The Spanish Civil Guard is a police force of military organization.
