Tani Buncho (1763-1840) was the leading Western-influenced topographical artist of his generation, adopting techniques that had a clear influence on Hokusai and Hiroshige. Tani's compositions are topographically accurate and seek to present the mountains in a natural, unadorned light.
This set consist of volume 1 and volume 3. The work opens with Mounts Kinpu and Fuji and concludes with Mount Iwate, a stratovolcano in northern Honshu.
Total 112 pages of spectacular illustrations of mountains of Japan. Measurements of the books 265 x 190 mm.
Estimated dates: 1812 and 1850. These 2 books are original prints dated first half of the 19th century.
Condition: Covers smudged and discolored, paper quality good. Volume 3 lacks the titel label.
Inside paper decent. A nice set.
