A matching four-part set of aristocratic toiletry furnishings 容色具 (yôshoku’gu), consisting of a very large bronze hand mirror 柄鏡 (e’kakami) with an embossed design, a lacquered kagami’bako (mirror box), a lacquered stand 鏡立て (kagami’tate), and a footed basin 耳盥 (mimidarai) with two lobed ears.
The hand mirror features a design symbolizing longevity, showcasing cranes and minogame gathering near a pine tree 松 (matsu). The left side bears the raised signature 'Tanaka' Iga (no) Kami Fujiwara Toshitsugu: 田中伊賀守藤原吉次, and the handle is wrapped in rattan.
The lacquered pieces are adorned with golden hiramaki-e 平蒔絵 (low-relief lacquer design) of fluttering butterflies 蝶 (chô) on a glossy black lacquer surface 蝋色漆 (rôiro’urushi), complemented by golden fundame rims 粉溜地 (matt lacquer).
