A very attractive painting depicting the Christ Child standing on a cloud surrounded by 20 winged cherubs. European school circa 1700. The Christ Child welcomes the spectator with open arms and radiates friendliness and light. His head is surrounded by a halo. Each cherub is a study on its own of a blond toddler, adorable and innocent. The work is painted on a hand cut oak panel with sloping sides and placed in a contemporary frame. The base of the frame,dating from circa 1700, is replaced circa 1900. The size including the frame is 44 x 36,25. An attractive cabinet piece of a rarely seen subject.
