Armand Constant Mélicourt-Lefebvre (1816-1883) - Portrait of an aristocratic French lady, first half of XIXth century

Armand Constant Mélicourt-Lefebvre (1816-1883) Portrait of a French lady (part of a pair with her husband - not sold together) Signed and dated 1856 Oil on panel (oval) Inner dimensions 41 x 33 cm Frame dimensions 71 x 47,5 x 6,5 cm Armand Constant Melicourt-Lefebvre was a French painter born in 1816 in Dieppe, Seine-Maritime, France. He was known for his beautiful, resembling portraits and painted many royal and political figures such as Napoleon III and his wife Eugène. His portraits can be found at various European museums such as the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, and the British Library in London. Provenance: Private Southern French collection Condition: fair condition as visible on pictures: the painting is 'in its juice' as the French say, in its original state and frame. With apparent age wear around the areas of the frame and small deterioration of the paint and minor paint loss in some small areas. Some yellowing of the varnish - would benefit from a nice clean and minor touch-up. The frame, from the early 19th century, is partly wood and partly plaster with age wear but still very beautiful (as seen on pictures). Due to the fragility of the plasterwork, the frame is sent as a gift and is therefore not prone to any damage claim. Pick up possible in France
