Port Charlotte 2002 Masam Silvano's Collection Cask 92, only 177 bottles available Masam are an independent bottling company run by Maryse Accorsi Samaroli, the wife of the legendary Silvano Samaroli. The Samaroli firm has been run by Antonio Bleve since 2008, however casks from Silvano's private collection have also been bottled under the Silvano's Collection banner. These were initially supervised by the man himself, but since his death in 2017, the tradition has been lovingly continued by his wife. This whisky was distilled in 2002 and laid to rest in single cask #92 before being bottled in 2020. Although this bottle is labelled as an Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, this is generally believed to actually be their Port Charlotte peated single malt. Port Charlotte is a heavily peated single malt produced at Bruichladdich distillery, introduced after Murray McDavid purchased the distillery 2001. The brand is named after a historic distillery in the eponymous neighbouring town. Having been traditionally an un-peated single malt due to the needs of its former owners for their blends, Murray McDavid were quick to diversify the Bruichladdich portfolio, also introducing the even peatier Lochindaal and Octomore.
