Aged Above The Clouds
It is a Ultra Premium rum made from a blend of rums of different ages and profiles. It is made from virgin sugar cane honey and is aged in a series of cask that previously held American whiskies, Oloroso Sherry and Pedro Ximenez wines in a unique process called the Sistema Solera. The secret of Zacapa is the slow ageing process that takes place at 2300 above sea level in the Guatemalan highlands creating a complex and full bodied dark rum that delivers flavour notes of honey, butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruits.

El Alma, the second of four releases, is a special and limited edition of Ron Zacapa 23. A blend of rums of different ages and profiles, further aged for a second time in charred ex- American whiskey casks. These casks have been exposed to live flames that reach deep within the grain to ignite and extract the heart of the wood, and the essence of nature. It imparts the rum with uniquely deep toasted notes, as dark and enigmatic as our volcanic surroundings. The taste is a delicious balance of roasted almonds, cinnamon and sweet toffee, as rich as the heart of land that surrounds us.

These casks tame the raw Zacapa spirit, forged from the carefully selected fermented virgin sugar cane honey rather than molasses used in most other rums. You can taste the honeyed and fresh sugar cane notes alongside the tropical vibrancy of pineapple and banana. It´s a palate rich rum with fruity abundance and hints of vanilla and wood.
