View translationWittmann Austria - Josef Hoffmann - Rocking chair - Wood - 267 Egg Rocking Chair
No. 89348105
Rocking chair originally designed by Josef Hoffmann during the 1920s.
Josef Hoffmann (15 December 1870 – 7 May 1956) was an Austrian architect and designer.
He was among the founders of Vienna Secession and co-establisher of the Wiener Werkstätte.
This is one of his creation: a pioneering work of Modern Architecture Bauhaus and peak of Vienna Secession architecture.
The concept and design of which later led to the creation of the best known Sitzmaschine.
An extremely rare object, worthy of private collections or even a museum.
This lounge chair provides a very ergonomic seating experience, despite its rigid looks. It features an adjustable back and footrest, which can be completely folded away.
This chair was produced by the Wittmann during the early 1970's/80s, based on the original design by Josef Hoffmann and was simply known as the “267” model. My grandfather bought it in Naples, from Novelli Arredi, exclusive distributor of the Wittmann catalog for southern Italy. Together with the chair you will also receive the original complete paper catalogue.
Height: (113 cm)
Width: (151 cm)
Depth: (73 cm)
N.B The chair will be disassembled of some of its parts to avoid damage during shipped transport. A wooden crate will be used to pack it, in order to ensure the safety of transport.
IMPORTANT: by bidding on my lot, you agree to always ask the courier for a receipt to sign and to sign it legibly, clearly writing "WITH RESERVATION OF INSPECTION" otherwise in the event of damage due to transport it will not be possible to avail of the insurance that covers the entire amount of the item. In the event of failure to sign the delivery document with the warnings mentioned above, you automatically exonerate me from reimbursing you for any damage you may find once the case is opened.
