The TIAN Gourmet Restaurant in Vienna takes you on a fascinating journey into the world of vegetarian and vegan cuisine, awarded with a Michelin star.

With the vision of creating a place for high-quality, healthy vegetarian food, Christian Halper founded the first TIAN restaurant in 2011. Since then, TIAN has been dedicated to combining our high standards for exceptional cuisine with our passionate love for experimentation. We draw from the diversity of rare, almost forgotten vegetable, fruit, and grain varieties, along with their distinctive flavors and valuable nutrients.

We primarily source our seasonal ingredients from regional suppliers who understand and uncompromisingly share our high standards for fresh, fairly produced organic food.

The name TIAN is no coincidence. In Chinese, it means "heaven" — fitting, since the restaurant is located on Himmelpfortgasse (Heaven’s Gate Lane). In French, it refers to a vegetarian stew. And in Tyrol, the homeland of our Chef de Cuisine Paul Ivić, it means "to do, to get things done." We take that to heart.

The passion for wholesome, vegetarian food shared by Christian Halper and Paul Ivić stems from their past. Fresh produce on the table every day: what was once a given in their childhood is something they aim to bring back today. With TIAN, they’ve achieved what they’ve long desired: preparing vegetarian food in a way that makes taste buds tingle and senses come alive.
