Taurasi is a DOCG red wine produced in Irpinia. Pure Aglianico grapes (from Taurasi), it is considered one of the most important and prized wines in Italy and boasts a thousand-year history. The DOCG was obtained in 1993 and its production is regulated by strict regulations that guarantee its quality and uniqueness. Aglianico grapes, in particular, must be grown in vineyards located in municipalities in the province of Avellino, at a minimum altitude of 400 meters above sea level. The wine must be aged for at least 3 years, of which at least 18 months in wooden barrels. The one proposed here by Famiglia Pagano comes from grapes harvested in the company vineyards of Taurasi and Paternopoli. Aglianico, native to Campania, is known for its rusticity and its ability to produce wines with great body and structure. Just like this Taurasi DOCG which has an intense ruby ​​red color in the glass. On the nose there are hints of red fruit such as blackberry, plum and cherry, accompanied by spicy notes of black pepper and vanilla. In the mouth it is warm and soft, with a good tannic structure and a persistent finish. Already good today, it can also be kept for a few years in the cellar, to evolve and be enriched with new nuances.
