This is a haori and kimono set made from 100% silk, using authentic Oshima Tsumugi.

The lining of the haori features a famous ukiyo-e by Utagawa Hiroshige, depicting the Hakone landscape from the "Hakone Kosui-zu" (Lake View at Hakone) in the "Tōkaidō Gojūsan-tsugi" (The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō) series. The mountain on the right side is believed to be Mount Komagatake, as seen in the same "Hakone Kosui-zu" print. On the upper left of the haori lining, it says "Tōkaidō Gojūsan-tsugi no uchi Hakone Kosui-zu(東海道五十三次内 箱根 湖水図)" and on the upper right, it says "Hiroshige ga(廣重画)" (Hiroshige’s painting).

Oshima Tsumugi is a traditional fabric produced in the Amami Islands in the southern part of Kagoshima Prefecture. It is handwoven using the "sakizome" technique, where the threads are dyed before weaving. This intricate dyeing and weaving process results in Oshima Tsumugi, which is recognized as an authentic traditional craft product and represents one of the finest silk fabrics Japan proudly offers to the world.

Kimono made from authentic Oshima Tsumugi is known for its elegant sheen, smoothness, and lightness. It is also resistant to wrinkles, providing both comfort and beauty when worn.

This set has been kept in storage and is in excellent condition, having never been worn. However, please note that there are some areas where the pattern colors have transferred to the lining. Additionally, upon close inspection, there is a spot where the thread appears tangled. You can check the color transfer on the lining in the fourth and fifth photos from the end, and the thread tangle in the third photo from the end.

This kimono is in an unused state, with the basting thread still intact. The basting thread is a temporary stitching used to keep the shape of the kimono during transportation and storage. Please gently remove the basting thread before wearing.

Il venditore è stato gentile, ma tra commissioni Catawiki e tasse doganali, da € 250, mi è venuto a costare € 400. Il valore commerciale è addirittura più basso di € 250. Costi non evidenziati.
