This stunning ceramic female figure was designed by the renowned ceramic artist László Illés (1910-1944). He studied ceramics at the School of Industrial Drawing in Budapest. From 1931 he taught ceramics, moulding and technical skills at the private school Atelier, founded by Dezső Orbán. His wife was Vilma Luria. His works were exhibited with great success at the Milan Exhibition of 1933 and at the National Crafts Exhibition in 1937, where he won a gold medal.
Literature : Sándor Fábián's book Hungarian Art Deco Ceramics contains many of his works.
It was made in the art deco period. 1940s.
Extremely rare collector's piece.
Signature of the artist on the pedestal: Illés
Condition: excellent, no repairs.
Glaze cracked.
Dimensions: 18 x 9.5 x 9,5 cm
