*Katsushika Hokui (year of birth and death unknown) was an ukiyo-e artist from the late Edo period to the Meiji period.
He was a student of Katsushika Hokusai. His surname was Fukao, and his given name was unknown. He called himself Hakusanjin. He is said to have lived in Fukagawa around 1893 (Meiji 26). His painting period was from the Tenpo period (1830-1844) to the Meiji period (1868-1912), and he produced a wide range of works, including illustrations for woodblock prints, hand-painted drawings, and chiyogami sketches in addition to nishiki-e.
*商売往来
Shobai orai (business correspondence) is a type of communication material that was popular during the Edo period. It is an elementary textbook created primarily for merchants, teaching vocabulary and related knowledge necessary for commerce, as well as the mindset of a merchant. The oldest version is said to be the one published by Hori Ryusuiken in 1694 (7th year of the Genroku era). The success of this book led to the creation of many similar books, and "shobai orai" came to be used as a term to refer to a genre.
*山青堂Sanseido
Yamazakiya Heihachi (years of birth and death unknown) was a jihon wholesaler in Edo during the Edo period.
He went by the name Sanseido. From the Kyowa period to around 1825, he operated a jihon wholesale business at Jijuemon-ten in Kakushiro, Hiranaga-cho, Sotokanda, Sujigai-gomon, Edo. Around 1825, the business failed and he went bankrupt, handing over his woodblocks to Minoya Jinzaburo. He published reading books and human interest books with illustrations by Katsushika Hokusai, Yanagawa Shigenobu, and Keisai Eisen.

View translationSuperbe masque No. Il n'est pas en bois mais en céramique donc plus fragile, mais cela lui donne une expression incroyablement humaine, troublante. Un objet fascinant. Arrivé très bien emballé.
