Le catalogue de l'exposition "Les Forêts natales" (du 3 octobre 2017 au 28 janvier 2018 au musée du quai Branly) témoigne de la diversité de la production artistique des populations du Gabon et de ses environs. Il raconte comment tout un vocabulaire à la fois oral et visuel, issu d'une histoire tissée de multiples contacts, s'est créé dans les forêts d'Afrique équatoriale atlantique. Au gré d'un itinéraire nord-sud, l'ouvrage montre en quoi le lien entre la "mobilité" des styles d'œuvres et celle des peuples est largement attesté, non seulement par les traditions orales mais aussi par les formes des œuvres elles-mêmes.
