Lovely, tall six-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) covered with oxidized silver leaf. Silver leaf continuously undergoes the process of oxidation, which creates a beautiful aged patina.
Enchased by a black lacquered protective wooden frame.
In Japan such tranquil and even screens are often used as a background for example vases with ikebana arrangements or other decorative or ceremonial objects.
Period: Japan – Taishô period (1912-1926).
