Lovely, tall six-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) covered with oxidized silver leaf. Silver leaf continuously undergoes the process of oxidation, which creates a beautiful aged patina. Enchased by a black lacquered protective wooden frame. In Japan such tranquil and even screens are often used as a background for example vases with ikebana arrangements or other decorative or ceremonial objects. Period: Japan – Taishô period (1912-1926). Dimensions: Total width: 368.2 cm (2 x 62.7 cm and 4 x 60.7 cm); Height: 173.4 cm. It is in a very good condition with minimal traces of wear conform age, small paper restoration reverse. Please take a look at the photos for a clear condition reference. This room divider is very suitable to be easily mounted flat on a wall and presented as one piece of art. When shipped we will add a certificate of authenticity.
